I saw Paris in 1990 -- the year the
Eiffel Tower was celebrating its 100th birthday.
Maybe the sky of the late afternoon was unique to that city or maybe it
was like any other sky in the world and the mystique of Paris had captured
my imagination and colored the sky for me. But when I went to Amsterdam
and saw Van Gogh's "View of Paris," I was sure that we had seen the same
sky.
